How to Reach Ranthambore from Delhi, Jaipur and Agra

By Maulik Hospitality Editorial · Updated 2026-08-22

Ranthambore's gateway town Sawai Madhopur sits on the Delhi-Mumbai main line, which makes it one of the few tiger parks you can do entirely rail-first.

From Jaipur (the classic combo)

  • 180 km via NH-52 / Tonk road, about 3-3.5 hours by car.
  • Pairs perfectly with a Golden Triangle itinerary: Agra - Jaipur - Ranthambore.

From Delhi

  • Road: approx. 380 km, 7 hours - doable but long; break at Neemrana or Kot Putli.
  • Rail: several daily trains stop at Sawai Madhopur Junction (about 5.5-7 hours) - e.g., trains toward Kota/Mumbai. Book AC chair car early for weekends.
  • Station is only about 6 km from both our Ranthambore resorts; we arrange pickups.

From Agra

About 290 km via Dholpur-Gangapur City (5-6 hours) or a short train hop from Bharatpur side. Works beautifully after Taj sunrise.

By Air

No commercial airport in Sawai Madhopur - fly into Jaipur (180 km) and drive, or land at Delhi/Gwalior and continue by train.

Local Movement

Auto-rickshaws and hotel jeeps cover the short hops between station, park gate (about 5-8 km) and town. Safari vehicles pick up from your resort for pre-dawn shifts if arranged.
